Spermwhales are the biggest predators on Earth. These massive cetaceans feed mostly exclusively on squids deep in the abyss, holding their breath for more than an hour.
Females and juveniles live in pods in tropical waters like here in Dominica, while solitary males frequent tempered and cold waters, only joining sometimes the female pods to mate.
Romain took this picture after a wonderful socialization time of 15 spermwhales. The diver allow us to get the gigantism of these gentle giants.
This picture has been finalist in the category adventure of the famous contest Oceanographic photographer of the year and published in Geo magazine.
