The kingdom of whales
The Antarctic peninsula is rich in wildlife and particularly in whales. The austral summer is a critical time for them as they have to feed enough to be able to complete their annual long range migration. This picture represents all that we can imagine on this fragile frozen ecosystem and has been taken from a sailboat.

The vulnerable mako
When you look at this shark, vulnerability is not the first word that comes. A jaw full of razor-sharp teeth, big eye for a good eyesight to detect preys in open waters, streamlined body to be the fastest shark of all..Nevertheless it's one of the most endangered, at risk of overfishing and accidental captures. This one has been photographed in the sea of Cortez, Mexico.
This picture has been multi awarded and was the Ocean geographic picture of the year.

Frozen immensity
Three penguins may appear a bit tiny in comparison to their massive iceberg. Penguins use to feed a lot on krill but they also need to rest sometimes. On such a gigantic piece of ice they keep safe from their predator the leopard seal.

the twins
Billions of herrings gather along the arctic Norway coasts, attracting their predators, killer whales and humpback whales. These two orcas have a rest at the surface after a successful predation.

Frozen minimalism
Antarctica is one of the best place in the world to take minimalist photograph. This tiny penguin is the perfect subject to be lost in a frame of ice.

This way my friends!
A penguin seems to point the way to his friends on a massive iceberg in Antarctica, the land of superlatives. Picture taken from the sailboat.

Rough sea
A sea gull is enjoying a fly on top of a massive wave at Nazaré, Portugal, during a big winter swell. The place is worldwide known by giant wave surfers. An underwater canyon, a right wind direction and of course a big swell are mandatory for the giant waves to appear.
