Every year humpback whales migrate long range round trip from polar regions where they spend summer time to massively feed on krill and fish to tropical regions to mate and give birth. The trip is extremely dangerous for the juveniles that can be attacked by killer whales and even separated from their mother by humpback whale males wanting to mate with the female.
Romain used his drone to take this picture of a mother humpback whale carefully bringing her brand new born baby to the surface to take one of his first breath. This baby was probably born only a few hours ago, we can notice his curved soft dorsal fin and his pale color typical of the first hours of life.
The mother is swimming very shallow and appear like a massive protective shadow under her tiny baby.
She'll have to face many dangers to raise her precious offspring.
