Every year humpback whales migrate long range round trip from polar regions where they spend summer time to massively feed on krill and fish to tropical regions to mate and give birth.

When the mother has given birth she'll have to face many dangers for the baby, opportunistic males trying to separate the baby from her in order to mate is one of them. if the baby is being separated from his mother it's his death sentence!

The female will fight hard for this to not happen, this is what this picture is representing. Whales can use their strong tail to make powerful attacks even sometimes against their own.
